Like Tetley, I enjoy this story more at each reading. I'm particularly taken with Minerva's wry, perceptive internal honesty, the fact that she has (and acknowledges) insecurities but carries on despite them. And Rolanda is so willing to be herself, as in this line: Rolanda, having given up all pretence of pity and fellow-feeling. . . (in a good way, of course /g/) Such a satisfying story all around; I love this pairing and your version of it.
And I've used your Minerva as a role-model, too. I recently wrote a letter that I signed, "yours despisingly"... and then I didn't send it.
