As a reader, I love it because it's such an excellent remedy against The Last Page Blues.
As a writer, I love the possibilities of that endless, ready made tapestry against which to set our stories. There's the intertextuality between the books and fanfics, and between the fanfics themselves.
And the option to improve on the original! Snape dead? Sez who?
And the best bit of all: the fanficcers! It's the sheer fun of booting up the PC in the morning and checking what everyone has been up to, and OBLIVIATE!
Allow me to elaborate slightly on the icon-text. I'm honoured to see that my untimely demise was too painful to contemplate, and I've spent many a happy hour reading your inspired and often entertaining tales. I do applaud them most sincerely. But I'd still like to point out a few minor details, in a spirit of constructive criticism.
I'm not a fan of inquisitive eleven-year-olds, and I'd rather not live next-door to one. CHAN That's not CHAN, I'm begging for a decent afterlife, that's all. Adela is a charming child ... Find your own parchment, will you?
I'd rather not live next-door to a Quidditch-pitch, either. Does that mean that I should still ask Rolanda
And what I do in my study is my own business. Kindly do not hang over my shoulder in order to render an (utterly fanciful) account of the notes I make in the margin of documents. TRS!PWP of the worst kind.
I must admit, however, that I do appreciate the company you've chosen. "I mostly appreciate" might even be more accurate. Comments like these might seriously damage your health. I said, get your own parchment! You need a good beta.
Oh, and while I'm perfectly willing to admit to partaking of the occasional Vodka Shot in the company of a fellow Head of House (the stuff' isn't a par on Ogden's Old, but I'm always willing to try a new potion), I most emphatically deny seducing Professor Trelawney. And Professor McGonagall would like to add that Lockheart should be so lucky.
But generally speaking, Dear Authors, your stories are a delight. Keep up the good work. And if you ever see a stuffed rhinoceros in an antiques shop, don't buy it. You're only saying that because Alastor That will do!

PS: I am feeling completely stupid, but I don't get CHAN (what did I miss ?!?)

In my fic The Rules, Snape and Minerva play a game with doodles in the margin of Order Minutes. Snape says Minerva can't use Sybil!PWP (as in Prattling without Point) since S. never has a point. And Minerva says that someone who complains about CHildren being ANnoying has no business being a teacher.
All of which is the truth pure and simple. Whatever hackers may say.
to have the object of your undying infatuation taking over while you are working.... *gg* Thank you for the (almost believable) sympathy. To add insult to injury, I can't remember a single thing about it!

Aaaaw, the self-confidence is still a bit bruised... *pats hand*

Oh, and Severus? Minerva is right (of course). You do need a good beta. And you simply can't do better than me; I have the testimonials to prove it. So feel free to send your own stories to me any time.
*sticks tongue out at rest of flist -- nyah, nyah. I asked first.*

Love the Snapewickian sense.

Prof. McGonagall is right, you did indeed look charming in orange. You should wear it more often. It has come to my ears that Ms Skeeter has taken a liking to orange, too. As has Madam Pomfrey, in a way. Maybe you and Prof. McGonagall, Ms Skeeter and Madam Pomfrey should have dinner together some day. Black and white and orange is just the perfect combination, don't you think so?
Sincerely,
a fan

I can think of a proper location or two, and I might add a few touches of white to the usual billowing robes.

And that is an amazing line: such an excellent remedy against The Last Page Blues. In fact, were we to have signatures at LJ and DW, I would alternate between lines of my flisties thougths on fanfic now.
