Honestly: I struggled with the notion of reading a Christmas-story today, tried to put it away unread, but then I could not resist after all... and you had me laugh out loud at the exact thing that made Willa laugh: the two lavenders ;-))) My second favourite joke is There had been conferences where she had stayed awake by calculating the number of months to her retirement. She had even calculated the weeks, when the speaker was some Ministry official.
But the whole story is a delight of course, especially reading it taking the two recipients into account.... all the little details put in there for them :-).
PS: Nevertheless I did not REALLY want to think about Christmas-tree-decoration while I am waiting for spring to arrive..."badly done TRS" (I re-watched 'Emma' 3 days ago *gg*)
